We continued up the PCH into Oregon and Washington, where a look to the west would provide the color of sapphires while a turn towards the woods would give the color of emeralds. We arrived with the wonderful timing of pleasant weather, adding to the ultimate charm of northern USA.
Visiting the coast meant we ate a lot of pretty dang good food. In Oregon we stopped at a floating restaurant for some fish and chips, and also tasted some juicy cherries and homemade fudge at a roadside market. During our brief time in Portland we tested out the exotic dishes catered by the many immigrant-run carts.
As native Arizonans, we were awe-struck by the many waterfalls gushing down the mountains. Oh how I love the scent of mist caught on the breeze! Adam carried Sophie on his shoulders as we hiked up, and I longed to dive off the bridge into the pool below.
Seattle is definitely a town for architects. We walked around for an evening exploring the artsy downtown, and apparently my dad was tired because while Mom and three of the kids left to get a strawberry frappe from Starbucks {cause apparently it's more special from Washington}, he fell asleep in the middle of the playground.

I was super happy cause I went into this indie store and the hippie chick working there told me my hair looked like a mermaid.
