For Valentine's Day Rachel and Dick invited us to Just Add Chocolate. It's a small store in Lehi where you are given chocolate molds to fill with all sorts of fillings (peanut butter, Nutella, raspberry, biscotti, coconut, blackberry, you name it!) and top with all sorts of toppings. My favorite was the dark chocolate cup I fitted with a fresh raspberry and Oreo crumbs!

Paige and Nguyen invited us to go bowling. I started off losing horribly the first round, but much to Dallin's regret, I quickly picked up the skills he taught me and almost beat him in the end. After bowling we joined them at their house. I insisted on doing something with all the fruit in their garden. A few weeks prior I had picked all their peaches before they rotted, and this time I helped them pick grapes straight from the vine. We took turns holding the flashlight and cutting the branches heavily laden with fruit. In the end we picked 30 lbs of grapes.
Our trip back to Arizona started off a little frightening. A few days before we left, my missionary brother video-called our sister Rachel from Asia to tell her about this crazy recurrent dream he has been having. In this dream, which he has experienced multiple times, three bad things occur:
1) He and his girlfriend of many years break up.
2) Either Rachel and I or our parents die in a plane crash.
3) He gets captured by the native police, beat up and thrown out of the country.
Shortly after the dreams started happening, he and his girlfriend broke up in real life. It seems part one of the dream had come to pass. As he finished telling Rachel the story, he started to hang up and said casually, "Drive safe!"
Rachel bit her lip nervously. "Actually........we're flying."
His eyes went wide.
Rachel of course relayed the conversation back to me. "Well," I laughed. "Let's just hope he doesn't have prophetic dreams!"
Our flight was going fine and dandy, I started watching Game of Thrones for the first time, and we had pretty much forgotten about our brother's dream. Then, as we started our decent, the plane started shuttering violently.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" the flight attendant said quickly. "We've been instructed to tell everyone to locate their nearest exit!"
Oh. Crud. My brother actually had prophetic skills! I clutched onto my seat and started saying my just-in-case last prayers, telling myself to stay totally calm because death could not be all that bad. Then, the plane stabilized and we landed just fine!
It wouldn't be a real home vacation if there weren't puppies at the Lundgreen home. This litter was Cali's third, and though the last times she had eight and nine, this time she had to have an emergency C-section because there were only three, and they were HUGE. The boy was double the size of a normal puppy! Of course, it wasn't just the litter that we got to enjoy. My mom has two more dogs and our eighteen-year-old cat Jasmine, who looks like she gained another nine lives after getting groomed. The Urness and Samuelson families also have multiple animals including rescue dogs, cats, and a horse. Needless to say, I am excited for the day when I can be established enough to buy some kittens!
We had a little high school friend group reunion. Now that two of the friends have babies and others have spouses from other states, it was difficult to get together, but it was nonetheless fun to see old faces again!
The Urness and Wood families are the most festive I have ever met! The holidays are always a blast with them, because they are well-coordinated and creative. We had our annual hayride, bringing back memories of when Dallin and I were newly dating five years ago. We hooked up the trailer to the back of the truck and sang along to Christmas carols, stopping at neighbors houses and in front of Walmart. Some of our people even ran inside to announce, "Come outside for carolers!" Needless to say, the bystanders were not nearly as enthused as we were, which made it even funnier.
We also had a cooking competition between the siblings. We were given particular ingredients that we were required to use for each round, appetizer, main course and dessert. I have never seen all of us be more competitive. The parents were the judges.
As a last bit of comedy, please note Spotify's summary of my music choices this year!
The semester is in full swing! It may only be a half of a week into classes, but we already have almost 300 pages of readings and four quizzes coming up next week. Senior year is ON.
This semester I am taking:
Haylee and I full on NERDED OUT tonight as we studied for a few hours of our Friday evening. It turns out that all the studying we did to get 100% on our March exam about the inner ear is still paying off -- we can still remember so much from that course!
This semester I am taking:
- Hearing Tests and Measures
- Medical Speech Pathology
- Intro to Speech Sound Disorders
- Language Disorders
- Advanced German I

On other notes, my high school friends and I had a sleep over, the first we've had since all of our boyfriends broke up with us the summer before senior year. We had more fun than I have had in a long time, watching Criminal Minds, laughing our heads off and playing two hours of the most intense question game I have ever played. Questions ranged from future dreams to mental health to marriage kinky things to would-you-rather to "were you mad at me about _____ during high school?" Chelsea insisted on staying up for Hayden {formerly Lindsey} to get home from SLC, so we were up past 3 {of course with lots of sugar to help}!
Dallin and I also moved to Wymount, which I couldn't have done without help from Haylee and Lauren and Dallin's friend McKay's truck. We successfully stocked our new place with cheap-but-beautiful furniture rounded up at thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace. Dallin and I had a ball meandering various home decor stores for ideas as well. It seems my adolescent dream of interior-designing my own little home has finally come true!
With lots of new changes happening anyway, I felt it would be a good time to begin working out daily and eating healthier. On my jog I discovered that our neighborhood nears the temple, the mountains and a gorgeous view of the lake! Given my history, I have to be careful about my easily addictive attitude surrounding exercise and "healthy foods," since that once led to me becoming very ill. However, with a year of therapy under my belt, I feel that I have learned to find balance. Now that I have relearned how to put variety and appropriate portion sizes back into my diet and have put 15 needed pounds back on, I want to shift that towards foods that will be most energizing and, well, healthy. For example, I made:
- quinoa with ground beef, roasted onions, peppers, corn, butternut squash, black beans, taco seasoning, green enchilada sauce and cheese
- whole wheat pitas stuffed with baked falafel, bell peppers, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and homemade hummus with lemon lentils on the side
Here are picture's of our old apartment {decor not ours}.

I did it. I finished my junior year of college. It took many hours hunched over a desk studying and a few tears here and there , but I can officially write in phonetics, draw out the whole process of hearing, and speak German much more comfortably. So maybe I have a problem with time management {in the sense that I compulsively spend too much time studying and not enough time being a normal twenty-something}, but at least I can say that I spent half that time learning material with amazing friends.
A few weeks ago we had an international night, making and sharing foods from our missions and other travels. Aside from that, we have split Chip Cookies, shopped, and lain on the couch retelling wild mission / kidnap attempt stories.
Now my goal is to really HANG OUT this summer!

On a stranger note, I have had breathing difficulties for a month now. Whenever I try to take a deep breath, I can only inhale about 70% and then I feel like I have to force my lungs to stretch enough; I throw my shoulders back to get the full breath, popping my back every time. I thought maybe it was because of muscle tension from my heavy backpack, and my cousin thought maybe I had popped a rib out. But finally I went to the doctor, who guessed it was either anemia or an allergic reaction to either the pollution or the pollen. The blood test came back fine, and so far the inhaler hasn't seemed to change anything, so I'm not quite sure what's going on.
Lastly, now that it's past midnight, it's officially two weeks and six days till me and Dallin's wedding and I just want the time to go even faster!
It boggles my mind when people say they don't like road trips. Perhaps its due to a memory bank stuffed with childhood summers on the highway, but I love road trips. Find the perfect pumped-up playlist, put on the sweats and get ready for hours and hours of gorgeous scenery and deep conversation! What is there not to enjoy? As soon as Rachel got out of her evening class, we zoomed on out to Vegas, spent the night, and arose early to arrive in the valley before noon. There were a few mishaps here and there, like our mom having to call us to turn around because our navigation wanted to add an extra hour, but otherwise it was nothing short of a blast.
It was a short little trip but it was packed with mini adventures. On Sunday, Mom and I spent over three hours in the kitchen experimenting with German recipes. We successfully cooked Wienerschniztel, Semmelknödel mit Speck, Rotkraut and Apfelstreussel! Who would've ever thought dumplings could have cubed baguettes and bacon on the inside? My grandparents were thrilled to join us, since Grandpa spent six months stationed in Bavaria in the 1950's. We chatted about his experiences in comparison with the stories of elderly Germans I met on my mission. Boy have times changed!
Last night, Rachel and I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a model seder, where we learned about the history and rituals of the Passover. Over the space of three hours, we listened to songs and prayers in Hebrew and Aramaic and listened to the customs commemorating Israelites' miraculous exodus from Egypt. Ritual foods included unleavened bread hid in a napkin, bitter herbs {horseradish}, apple-raisin salad {historically replacing the lamb, which wasn't used followed the destruction of the temple}, and four timely cups of wine {grape juice}. Of course, our Kosher meal was followed by a mint brownie because, as the host said, us Mormons don't need an excuse for chocolatey treats.
