Wow. Is this school week actually over? I'm trying to remember everything that has happened lately. It's been so crazy that everything has sort of blurred all together.
Well, I guess I'll start off with the walk to the temple. That was weeks ago and I should've already written about it, but what can I say? Anyway, all the youth of the Highland Stake met at the stake center at 7 A.M. and we, well... walked to the Gilbert Temple construction site. It was about ten miles, about a thousand of us just walking, which took about two hours or so. It was supposed to represent the "journey to exaltation," and I thought it was pretty neat. Although some people were saying how sore they wore, I didn't even think it was all that hard. I jut stayed with Rachel the whole time
{until she had to be picked up by Mom for play practice} and we hung out in the very front with 3rd Ward and stake leaders, wanting to be among the first to arrive. And we were. Once we reached the temple, we took pictures and then went to the information center to learn about the design, dates, etc. At that point, most of the frame except for the steeple had been done and the beautiful, sparkly, white bricks were starting to be put on. Afterwards everyone was rewarded with breakfast.

The Thursday after that, I saw Rachel perform in AYT's
The Scarlet Pimpernel. Rachel was just an ensemble character
{an aristocrat that got beheaded}, but I was absolutely blown away by the actors-who are my age, mind you- with their lifelike acting, outstanding accents, etc. Not to mention the costumes and sets. On Tuesday was the last home game for basketball, which meant it was the last game I got to cheer at. I put my hair in rollers and made sure I was all preppy this one last time. Too bad we just barely lost the game... but at least, my the first time in all my school cheerleading, I did backhand-spring series on the basketball court! Granted, I got a spot so tiny it didn't even count on the first of like four for mental comfort, but still! Then on Wednesday we all went to Johnny Rocket's. I got awarded the best tumbler and the best attitude. So a little while back in November, my Seminary teacher Brother Wade asked me to perform a song. Although I wasn't quite sure how he knew that I like to sing, I happily accepted and sang
Come Thou Fount with my friend Ashlyn, Georgia on the piano. Ashlyn and Georgia were in Brother Larsen's class, and we went ahead and performed for their class too. Both times it went great. Anyway, we decided that we wanted to sing in sacrament. We talked to the ward music director, who really wanted us to do it, but the schedule was musically full with holidays and such that she said we would have to wait till January. That was fine with us. And then she got released. After a few weeks we managed to talk to the new music director, who also wanted us to do it. But of course someone else had also been trying to perform this song since a few months earlier, we found out one day in Sacrament Meeting. Information about the song
Come Thou Fount was even in the program! So now the music director said we would have to wait till the end of April. At that point, we figured it was about time to just forget it. And then my Seminary teacher, who in this semester is Brother Larsen, gave me an unexpected surprise. He started the lesson by asking if anybody had heard of the song,
Come Thou Fount. A lot of people raised their hands, but my hand was the only one remained when he asked who could perform it. I wasn't saying that I would be the one to do it, but I just told him quietly that, if he could remember, I had done the song before and at least knew how to do it. He was totally happy with that. So the next day, Ashlyn, Georgia, and I went over it once, then sang it for both my class and their class
{this time Bro. Wade's} once more. What a coincidence this all was. But it was so fun!
Then today {though I realize it is now past midnight and so I should be saying "yesterday"} after school my friends and I all hung out. Hanging out at Discovery Park, walking around the city, and watching MI3 on Bryan's ginormous bean bag. It was pretty legit.
I'd say life is amazing, even if school can be hard at times and your English teacher makes you write six 8-15 sentence paragraphs analyzing a weird story about this family being bothered by some pesky cameramen and two birds that die in their yard.
I just sing in the rain.
