So, I may have crashed the party a little... a lot? Dallin's mama Jordie flew in on Friday and I couldn't have been more excited to tag along for the weekend. Don't worry, I gave them a little bit of time alone {haha}, but once Dallin headed off to serve tables, it was me and her!
Since Rachel needed the car for the first few hours, we took laps around the mall before getting seated with Dal. He was an excellent {might I add handsome} waiter who did a mighty fine job of topping off our drinks! Then we picked out so many groceries for him that as it was temporarily stored in my freezer, it would hardly close. Jordie and I had some serious heart-to-hearts; I was so grateful for her loving support and for her incredible ability to listen, understand, and offer advice. She invited me to share her hotel bed even though Dallin didn't get off work till after midnight.
On Saturday, we checked out the hot springs for the very first time in the daylight. I've hiked them twice at night, and knowing how much it reeks like rotten eggs, I was mildly terrified they would turn out to look like swaps. Instead, we discovered turquoise waters and brimmed with emerald moss! We tested out the various pools until we found just the perfect temperature beneath the fall of a guzzling stream. On the hike back, Jordie met a beautiful white husky with heterochromia. She has a gift of being able to befriend any stranger, human or not! While they were chatting with a couple with another dog, I dunked my full body in the chilly river.
That evening, we spent another two hours at Dal's restaurant. I couldn't help but grin when Jordie and I would delve into some real talk and then suddenly zip our lips like gossiping schoolgirls when Dallin swung by to serve us. {Sorry love, I know you're reading this.}. We were all tuckered out by the time the restaurant closed, but we proceeded to walk to the gas station for treats and then watch a movie.
On Sunday, we relaxed for several hours in the morning, and in the afternoon we walked around Center Street in the heat. We blasted our old mission music in the car as we drove back to the airport, and just like that, the fun weekend was over!
