Last September I was pleasantly shocked to find a baby chicken chirping at my doorstep with a note reading, "I'd Be So Excited to Take This CHICK to Homecoming." I then had to find an open several Easter eggs to figure out that I'd been asked by Chandler.
The entire stadium was decked out in teal, black, and glitter, and there were so many spirited kids filling the student section that the autumn night was hot and sticky as we cheered and sang and watched fireworks explode at half time. Chandler and I even got to shoot shirts into the audience from the field!
After the game, all of us hiked up a small mountain overlooking the nighttime city and gazed at the stars. I love heights, so I sat perched on a boulder just chit-chatting and watching trying to map the valley from above. In the morning we got together to play sports and then got into a shaving cream fight. I was unaware till that day that it was possible to get an ear-infection from shaving cream, but it was so hilarious dousing each other with the nasty stuff that I honestly don't even mind. We looked like snow men by the time we vengefully emptied the dozen cans. Even after 20 minutes of hosing each other down, there was no hope in trying to get the white gunk out of our clothes and hair and ears.
The night of the dance, things got a little dangerous.
OK, kidding. We didn't actually get arrested, although some people were a little concerned when I told them I was put in the back of a cop car. Let me tell you, it is NOT comfortable with the hard plastic seats and barred windows and tiny space-- and I myself am tiny, so I can only imagine what it's like for some of those big dudes. Fortunately for us, we weren't being hauled to prison, just being visited by Chandler's cop brother on the way home from work.
Finally we arrived at the dance, where we danced like the awkward white people that we are. Honestly, even if you're terrible, once the musics playing and the lights are dimmed, it's a total blast. Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend!
