No matter how much he pried, I would not reveal Dallin's birthday surprise.
"Plan nothing after two on Saturday," was all I would tell him.
I shooed him out of the house in the midafternoon just long enough to throw together suitcases and a cooler full of fun snacks and shove them in the car. He was allowed to return home, but I sent him immediately to the driver's seat of the car.
"Where am I going?" he asked.
"Just hop on the I-15 North."
I directed him all the way to City Creek Mall, where I led him to Brio Tuscan Grill. We enjoyed a lovely dinner, courtesy of my mother, but as we tried to walk around the mall afterwords Dallin could not understand why I was in a hurry to leave.
"Alright, time to go home now," I joked once back in the car. "Just kidding."
"Wait, you're kidding? I thought we were going home!"
"Nah boy, it's only 6:00 in the evening! Drive toward Vivent Arena." We drove for a short while, and then I ordered him to turn.
"Vivent is that way," he protested.
"I was trying to get you in the right general direction. Now turn into that round-about."
"What round-about?"
"The one right there, under the awning," I answered, pointing to the entrance in front of the Marriott. "Do you think you could park there for a second so I could talk with the people at the front desk?"
Suddenly, Dallin swung to look at me. "Wait, did you get a hotel?!"
I smiled. "Happy birthday!"
So thank my parents for so kindly letting us use some hotel points. Dallin and I found ourselves in a luxurious suite, and we enjoyed an evening of hot-tubbing, white grape juice that Dallin used to demonstrate how to do a wine tasting, and the weirdest Sci-Fy movie we have ever seen. Instead of the initial plan of clubbing, we meandered outside for pumpkin cheesecake and rented a scooter for ten minutes. Dallin drove, blazing around with me squealing in the front. We remained at the hotel until the end of our extended stay the next afternoon, took advantage of the rare opportunity to just lie in bed and relax.

Then our friends Brittany and McKay invited us to golf! Dallin and I had never been to a real golf course, but it was so much fun! We have decided that we are each other's doppelgänger couple, because McKay and Dallin and so similar and me and Brit are so similar.
That night we made brownies, and our doppelgänger friends, Rachel, Paige, Courtney and Dallin's mission friend Dallon came over for a few ours of good old chatting.
