One Night at the Grand America

Dallin recently began working at a new tech company. After working virtually for a tiny startup, it was quite the change to go into the office and work for a company that is growing at an exponential rate. He had only been there a few weeks when his company hosted the Gatsby-themed awards night at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake. Dress code: to the nines.
We entered the main ballroom where Dallin's colleagues introduced themselves to me. The ballroom was grand enough with its chandeliers and the twenties-style singing of an LA band, so we did not expect it when flappers began to dance down the aisles and open up the side paneling to an even larger ballroom. After some dazzling performances from the dancers and musicians, a woman took the stage and introduced herself as someone who hosted New Years at Times Square for many years.  Crystalline trophies were given by the dancing flapper girls  as awards to those who played a notable role in the company this last year. Then there was a full meal to satiate our appetites followed by elegant little dessert platters as we left our tables to play poker with the chips given to us.
When our feet were almost too tired to carry us any longer, Dallin and I walked across the street to the Little America Hotel where we stayed the rest of the night, just him and I.
