It boggles my mind when people say they don't like road trips. Perhaps its due to a memory bank stuffed with childhood summers on the highway, but I love road trips. Find the perfect pumped-up playlist, put on the sweats and get ready for hours and hours of gorgeous scenery and deep conversation! What is there not to enjoy? As soon as Rachel got out of her evening class, we zoomed on out to Vegas, spent the night, and arose early to arrive in the valley before noon. There were a few mishaps here and there, like our mom having to call us to turn around because our navigation wanted to add an extra hour, but otherwise it was nothing short of a blast.
It was a short little trip but it was packed with mini adventures. On Sunday, Mom and I spent over three hours in the kitchen experimenting with German recipes. We successfully cooked Wienerschniztel, Semmelknödel mit Speck, Rotkraut and Apfelstreussel! Who would've ever thought dumplings could have cubed baguettes and bacon on the inside? My grandparents were thrilled to join us, since Grandpa spent six months stationed in Bavaria in the 1950's. We chatted about his experiences in comparison with the stories of elderly Germans I met on my mission. Boy have times changed!About Me
