Beckham - 10 Months

Life is wild with Brave Brave Sir Beckham, as Dallin calls him in song. Some things that have happened with our ten-month-old:

- He was caught trying to eat a fur ball coughed up by Atticus.

-We practiced waving and saying "bye-bye" too much when Dallin was going to work so then he thought Dallin was "bye-bye" instead of "Dada"

-He is getting new teeth which makes him super miserable. He’ll be SCREAMING but if I play or sing this British baby song The Happy Song he’ll start dancing his head through the tears

-He dove headfirst into the kiddie pool and was very surprised to get dunked. Obviously I caught him

-He can go down the stairs normally about 80% of the time but for some reason the first step is a barrier mentally and he thinks he has to dive headfirst off that one before turning around for the rest of the stairs

-He loves chucking any and everything through the cat door of the baby gate down the stairs

-If Beckham has a dirty diaper when Dallin isn’t home, Beckham often has to be hosed off in the bathtub using the bidet sprayer because he HATES sitting still long enough to get his diaper changed and will try to roll around and get poop on the wall

-He always starts shouting if other people are talking loud (in real life or TV) or if he sees other kids. Just gotta make sure his presence is known. He also has to blow raspberries if other people do that.

-He flips his tongue constantly.

-He tries to sing now but it’s just cute baby babbling with some head bobbing

-He periodically forgets he can't stand without support / walk and will pivot away from whatever surface he is standing against only to fall down

-He frequently chucks his toys under furniture and then scooches flat on his belly to retrieve the toys...only to try to get back up while still under the furniture and subsequently get stuck

-He has a ritual for getting into trouble in most rooms of the house. In the office, it's bee-lining for Dallin's server so he can try to push the glowing green power button. In my bedroom, it's bee-lining behind my bed for the chargers so he can rip them out of the wall and play with them (I need to figure out a better configuration so the chargers are accessible for me but hidden from him). In the open-floor kitchen/living room, it's bee-lining for the cat food and water to play in. In the hallway, it's ripping the nightlight out of the wall (and then every night I have to try to find the nightlight and plug it back in for our cat who is scared of the dark). This results in a lot of barriers being set up around the house, or otherwise shutting a lot of doors.

-If I thought I couldn't find anything before with my disorganization, it's game over now. Beckham always takes souvenirs on his crawling adventures around the house. A bottle of soap from the ledge of the bathtub? That will now be in the office on the floor.

-We taught him to call the cats "mow" as shortened from "meow," and he has done it a few times. My two-year-old niece does this too.
