Alaska 2024: Seward

For the last part of our visit before returning to Anchorage to fly home, we took a trip to Seward.

Part 1: The Fjords

We booked the five-hour expedition on the water with Kenai Fjords.  The cruise took us past glaciers to cliffs brimming with life.  We spotted a nest of three eaglets, crowds of puffins, and other birds, and we saw multiple orcas leaping across the ocean's surface. Halfway through the day we stopped for lunch on shore.  The beach was made up of smooth, flat stones perfect for skipping, and Beckham giggled when Dallin threw stones while holding him.

Part 2: The Alaska SeaLife Center

Beckham napped in Dallin's arms during part of the cruise, which left him with enough energy to go to the Alaska SeaLife Center, a rehabilitation center in Seward.  After this, we got dinner, and Dallin tried crab for the first time.

We were sad to say goodbye to Dick and Rachel, who live so far away from us.  Dick spent the entire trip trying to convince us to move to Alaska.  But we'll be back to visit -- and next time, we will get to meet their baby girl!
