Thud!  Thud!  Thud!
  The teachers rap on their desks, struggling to keep a grip on the students' withering attention spans.  Eyes that once focused on the board now wander to the clock, willing the hand to tick faster.  Hands that should be grasping pencils and finishing review packets now flip through signed yearbooks.
